From a farming background in Scotland, and with a determination to work with wood from childhood, Daniel was accepted at John Makepeace’s prestigious Parnham College on leaving school.  Having received tuition from Robert Ingham and other renowned experts, he graduated from Parnham in 1996.  His graduation piece, Anodyne, an occasional table received a Guild Mark from the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers.

After renting benchspace in London for four years, he set up his current workshop in Buckinghamshire in 2000. He has been exhibiting at “A Celebration of Craftsmanship and Design” in Cheltenham since 1997 and in 2003 received the second of his Guild Marks from the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers for a curved chest of drawers. This piece was also exhibited at Classic Belgium in 2003.

In 2005 exhibitions included:

“The Art of Furniture Making – a Celebration of Excellence”, organised by the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers and held at Bonham’s flagship saleroom in London.

“A Celebration of Craftsmanship & Design”, a prestigious event held at Cheltenham in August annually.

Chelsea Crafts Fair, October 2005.  Daniel was a first-time exhibitor at this internationally renowned event, and the winner of the First Time Exhibitor award for the most innovative and interesting work (week 1).
